A HISTORY OF EXCELLENCE
For Over 120 Years
Picchiani and Barlacchi was established in the distant year 1902. Despite more than a century having passed, our creations still possess the same ability to celebrate national and international events.
Our history traces its roots back to the late 19th century with the work of the engraver Gastone Picchiani, a man of rare artisanal skills.
Thanks to the partnership with the entrepreneurial vision of Bruno Barlacchi, the business, which started in a small workshop, transformed into a full-fledged company, bringing the art of medal-making to the world.
OUR OBJECTS SPEAK FOR US
Accountant Barlacchi’s passion for sports provided a new impetus to the company, leading to an expansion of medal production in the sports sector, a key element of our success.
Among the most prestigious collaborations, we would like to mention our association with the Vespa Club of Italy and the Florence Vespa Club, to which Bruno Barlacchi contributed from its foundation and of which he was President for many years.
Another iconic example is the Targa Florio, the prize awarded at the world-famous Italian international car race. This prestigious commission was entrusted to us since its inauguration in 1906 and continues to be minted within our facility.

A STORY OF RESILIENCE AND EXCELLENCE
Our unwavering commitment to excellence allowed us to secure prestigious contracts and collaborations, both nationally and internationally, throughout the 20th century.
Despite wars and challenges, the production of the Florentine company never ceased. Even during the sanctions of the fascist regime, it was involved in producing steel rings to replace gold rings donated to the nation.
On this occasion, Picchiani & Barlacchi also executed two steel rings, which were personally presented to King Vittorio Emanuele III and Mussolini during a famous ceremony.

FORGING THROUGH THE DECADES
In the 1930s and 1940s, after narrowly avoiding deportation to Germany under Nazi hegemony, the firm obtained the production of badges for the Italian delegation at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
In these years, the company became a primary supplier for the world of sports, the Armed Forces, the Navy, Public Organizations, and distinguished itself by exceeding the expectations of clients from every sector and country.
While the company was making a name beyond its borders, the best artists and engravers worked within Picchiani and Barlacchi, including Mario Rinaldi, a student of Gastone Picchiani, whose work gave birth to unique and precious pieces.

CHALLENGES OF MODERNITY
In the 1990s, primarily due to strong competition from foreign markets, a challenging period began, which we overcame thanks to our company values, and by producing unique, impeccable, and timeless products.
The transition to the new millennium also brought a change in the management of Picchiani and Barlacchi. We have now reached the fifth generation, with Matteo Parri at the helm, supported by his mother Chiara and aunt Giovanna.
We have established ourselves as leaders in Italy in metalworking, creating Made in Italy products following the Florentine tradition that, to this day, maintains its unaltered value.

THE STORY CONTINUES...
While everyday life may fade the features and events of the past, in a medal, the memory of the past and those who populated it remains proudly imprinted.
Our contribution to memory is immortalized in works such as the medal for the 140th anniversary of Cantieri Navali Benetti, the official coin of Expo 2015 for Heads of State, and creations in the fashion sector, such as for Stefano Ricci and Rodd&Gunn.
We have created honors for the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and the keys to the city of Florence, along with crests for the Naval Academy of Livorno and the Rotary Club of Florence. The medal for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is another notable accomplishment of ours.
Today, we continue to aspire to excellence, without compromise, to honor the stories we encounter along our journey.
OUR MISSION
We create unique and internationally valuable objects for those who want to forever remember an achievement or an important moment.
OUR VISION
A world where every important historical moment and achievement is imprinted in unique objects that forever commemorate it.
